As part of our Erasmus+ ‘We do STEAM together’ project, students from Year 8 are visiting Swidnik in Poland.
Students came together with partner countries from Portugal, Romania and Estonia to take part in different activities. Our first day consisted of ice breaker (meeting) activities; these include various sports games, building a tower and building a famous building using recycled paper and tape only.
Day two of the project includes a trip to Lublin. Workshops were presented on Lublin history in the NN Theater followed by a visit to the Majdanek concentration camp. Students ended the day with some shopping at Felicity Shopping centre.
Day three of the project began with science workshops. Stıdents conducted interesting experiments about the physical properties and density of water. Students then went to the Konstytucji Square to take part in an outdoor activity where they had to work in groups to find names of the European countries using QR codes. After lunch students participated in computer activities which includes creating ebooks about legends of their countries and learning how to code. Finally students presented their schools and famous scientists and engineers of their countries.
Day four of the project includes a trip to Lublin to participate in culinary workshops, where everyone learned to make traditional polish dishes. After lunch our guide who met us dressed in a traditional medieval outfit showed us around the old town of Lublin. Students took part in a game where they got to know Lublin's most important monuments and buildings. All partners had a wonderful time in the city of Lublin.
The final day of the Erasmus+ project ended with a trip to Warsaw, during which participants visited the Museum of the Warsaw Uprising and the Copernicus Science Center. The trip ended with a certificate ceremony for all participants.The final stop over was in Vienna, where the students visited many historical monuments.Overall, students had a great time learning about the culture, history and different traditions. After a week spent with interesting activities and workshops it was time to go home.
